190th Music for Humanity Free Performance Night

August 15 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
Lucas and Peter

On the 3rd Saturday of each month, we invite 2-3 outstanding local/regional artists to share their music (both originals & covers), and sometimes classical, jazz, flamenco, etc. We’re into our 16th year. Our featured performers this month are Lucas Maehara Rotman and Peter Sando.

LUCAS MAEHARA ROTMAN is a Brooklyn based singer-songwriter. He is a storyteller of the human experience. His lyric-driven Mosaic Americana blends the whimsical and the profound creating a sound as diverse as the influences that have shaped his journey. Former winner of the Music for Humanity Songwriting Contest back in 2023, Lucas is excited to return to the Noble Coffee Roasters stage supporting his newest album release, Lost & Found, out now on most streaming platforms!

PETER SANDO emerged in the late 60’s from the band Gandalf, formerly the Rahgoos prior to the LP release, appearing at various New York clubs such as “The Phone Booth”, Scott Muni’s “Rolling Stone”, “The Electric Circus”, Murray the K’s “World”, and the legendary “Night Owl Cafe” in Greenwich Village. It was there that he met songwriters Garry Bonner and Alan Gordon (“Happy Together”, “She’d Rather Be With Me”) who brought the band to the attention of record producers Koppelman & Rubin. K&R signed the band and immediately started work on the GANDALF album which was released on the Capitol label in 1969. It has become a cult classic and highly sought after by collectors.

The concept of a “three-minute dream” (aka: a song that draws you in) is still something that attracts Peter to songwriting today. He records albums in his home studio. He’s still influenced by his folk-rock and sixties-rock favorites, and also finds inspiration in contemporary songwriters such as Ron Sexmith.

His repertoire of original songs ranges from country to Americana and rock.

We start promptly at 7:30, but recommend you arrive closer to 6:30 for a seat with table. Noble Coffee will serve a light dinner menu plus a great selection of desserts, coffees & teas.

This is a free event. We accept tax-deductible donations to “pay it forward” to the next generation of musicians. See them at https://musicforhumanity.org. If you are financially stressed please join us for free and let the music work its magic… it will.

This is a “listening room” series. If you enjoy listening to outstanding music in a small intimate room (40-60 people) you’ll love this event.
If you can’t make it please subscribe to our YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@musicforhumanity-1. We’ll post the videos the following week.
