189th Music for Humanity Free Performance Night Plus the Scholarship Announcements

On the 3rd Saturday of each month, we invite 2-3 outstanding local/regional artists to share their music (both originals & covers), and sometimes classical, jazz, flamenco, etc. We’re into our 16th year. Our featured performers this month are Charles Mokotoff, Maggie Seligman, and Rick Norman (pictured above left to right).

CHARLES MOKOTOFF holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in guitar performance from Syracuse University and Ithaca College, respectively. He has served on the faculties of numerous colleges and universities in New York and the New England area as a lecturer in classical guitar and lute.

MAGGIE SELIGMAN delivers powerful and passionate interpretations of her originals, American and Celtic traditional songs, composed folk, Americana and roots music, and jazz standards.

RICK NORMAN songwriter, singer has performed at many legendary clubs including CBGB’s, Stone Pony, Club Helsinki & Joe’s Pub. Rick is a member of the New York Songwriters Collective, as well as a voting member of ASCAP and The Society of Composers and Lyricists. Along with performing all across America Rick has also performed internationally in Sweden, Denmark, France, the Czech Republic & Ireland. https://ricknormanmusic.com.

THIS IS A SPECIAL NIGHT, because we will also announce the recipients of the 2026 MFH Scholarships. We’ll give $26,000 in scholarships as follows: Grand Scholarship: $10,000, Runner-up: $5000, 3rd Place: $3000, plus Eight Honorable Mentions of $1000 each. We’re happy that Charles Mokotoff the Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee is with us tonight to help make the announcements.

We start promptly at 7:30, but recommend you arrive closer to 6:30 for a seat with table. Noble Coffee will serve a light dinner menu plus a great selection of desserts, coffees & teas.

This is a free event. We accept tax-deductible donations to “pay it forward” to the next generation of musicians. See them at https://musicforhumanity.org. If you are financially stressed please join us for free and let the music work its magic… it will.

This is a “listening room” series. If you enjoy listening to outstanding music in a small intimate room (40-60 people) you’ll love this event.
