SUMMARY:Charles Mokotoff Classical Guitar Virtuoso
DESCRIPTION:This is not a MFH event\, however it features classical guitar virtuoso Charles Mokotoff\, who is an MFH Board Member & Chairman of the Scholarship Committe. There are no advance tickets ($20). Box office opens at 4PM. Come early and visit the Frederick Franck sculpture garden. Bring pillows for comfortable seating. Not handicapped accessible.\n\nCharles Mokotoff (http://www.charlesmokotoff.com/) holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in guitar performance from Syracuse University and Ithaca College\, respectively. He has served on the faculties of numerous colleges and universities in New York and the New England area as a lecturer in classical guitar and lute. His career culminated with two Far East tours and a well-received New York City debut at Carnegie Hall in 1987. Most recently\, he has had two performances at the Lincoln Center Performing Arts Library.\n\nClassicalGuitarMusic.org has written that his playing shows “a mix of strong tone\, pianistic at times\, but also capable of beautiful legato phrasing and a natural feel for forward movement.” Earlier in his career\, Mr. Mokotoff was described by the New York Times as “exceptional among debutantes…a thoughtful\, gentlemanly artist\, technically fastidious and able to coax a range of sounds from his instrument.”\nMr. Mokotoff\, severely hard of hearing for a good deal of his life\, is an outspoken proponent of making music with hearing loss.\nFor his return to Pacem in Terris\, in addition to music by genius composers Issac Albeniz and Astor Piazzolla\, he will perform popular favorites by: Gerardo M. Rodríguez (La Cumparsita) and Sebastien Yradior (La Paloma)\, plus music by Fernando Bustamente\, Milonga Jorge Cardoso\, Jorge Morel\, and William Lovelady

SUMMARY:The Complete Unknowns - Bob Dylan Tribute Band
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS:  $58 for the first 10 rows \, $44 for all other seats! \nBob Dylan is regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Dylan has been a major figure in popular culture during a career spanning more than 60 years. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s\, when songs such as “Blowin’ in the Wind” (1963) and “The Times They Are a-Changin'” (1964) became anthems for the civil rights and antiwar movements. His lyrics during this period incorporated a range of political\, social\, philosophical\, and literary influences\, defying pop music conventions and appealing to the burgeoning counterculture. \nDylan was born and raised in St. Louis County\, Minnesota. Following his self-titled debut album in 1962\, which comprised mainly traditional folk songs\, he made his breakthrough as a songwriter with the release of The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan the following year. The album features “Blowin’ in the Wind” and the thematically complex “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall”. Many of his songs adapted the tunes and phraseology of older folk songs. \nHe went on to release the politically charged The Times They Are a-Changin’ and the more lyrically abstract and introspective Another Side of Bob Dylan in 1964. In 1965 and 1966\, Dylan drew controversy among folk purists when he adopted electrically amplified rock instrumentation\, and in the space of 15 months recorded three of the most important and influential rock albums of the 1960s: Bringing It All Back Home\, Highway 61 Revisited (both 1965) and Blonde on Blonde (1966). \nHis six-minute single “Like a Rolling Stone” (1965) expanded commercial and creative boundaries in popular music. This show\, “Back to Basics” by The Complete Unknowns\, will feature the songs that put & keep Mr. Dylan on the map. The Complete Unknowns have covered practically all of Dylan’s songs over their 16 years of performances. You’ll hear Dylan in a special way by an incredible group of musicians. \nAugust 26th\, 2023 – 8:00pm (Doors open at 7:00pm) \nTICKETS:  $58 for the first 10 rows \, $44 for all other seats \nClick here for tickets.
