SUMMARY:The Subaru Share the Love Event to Benefit Music For Humanity
DESCRIPTION:Music for Humanity is truly honored to have been selected by https://www.johnstonssubaru.com in Middletown NY as the “Hometown Charity” for the Annual Subaru “Share the Love” Event\, which is one of the most successful and long-running charitable campaigns in the U.S. auto industry. As of 2025\, Subaru reports donating over $300 million through the Share the Love Event. \nIf you buy or lease a new Subaru from Johnstons Subaru\, from November 20th thru January 2\, 2026\, we’ll receive $300 per car. Plus\, if you already own a Subaru and have it serviced during that time period we will receive $5 for every service job (minor or major). \n“I’ve been driving a Subaru Outback for almost 40 years. They have been the only vehicle for Music for Humanity since we began in 2005. Subarus are super dependable\, comfortable and safe vehicles. When you buy or lease a new Subaru\, you’ll get more for your money. Stop into Johnstons Subaru and take a test ride.” Barry Adelman\, Co-Founder of Music for Humanity.

SUMMARY:World Premiere of the 20th Anniversary Celebration
DESCRIPTION:We recently celebrated our 20th Anniversary at the magnificent Mulder Chapel in Warwick NY. One man\, videographer Philip Miller\, with four cameras made a beautiful video of five brilliant artists. This is a free event. \nThe video features performances by two of our Grand Scholarship recipients: Ryan Soeyadi\, Masters in Piano Performance from Juilliard and Esther Chae\, receiving her Masters in Cello Perfromance from Juilliard this year. They represent $34\,000 of the $207\,000 we’ve given in 78 music scholarships. \nAlso in the film are performances by more experienced artists including Charles Mokotoff\, Masters in Guitar Performance from Ithaca College\, John Cimino\, baritone and winner of the First International Pavarotti Competition\, and E’lissa Jones\, full time music teacher in Warwick\, former backup singer to Wilson Pickett and arguably the most dynamic performer in the Hudson Valley. Shavon Lloyd\, another Grand Scholarship recipient was scheduled to perform\, but unfortunately was sick that day. \nIf Philip Miller\, the videographer\, can attend this event\, you’ll be able to ask questions about the making of the film. \nThis is a free event\, but please register here: https://goshenpubliclibrary.libcal.com/event/15695674

SUMMARY:182nd Music for Humanity Free Performance Night
DESCRIPTION:On the 3rd Saturday of each month\, we invite 2-3 outstanding local/regional artists to share their music (both originals & covers). We’re into our 16th year. Our featured performers this month are Kurt Henry\, Lisa Markley and Stuart Kabak. They were the judges for our 2024 Songwriting Contest. \nKurt Henry\, https://www.kurthenry.com/\, an Educator of Excellence (NYS English Council)\, discovered the relationship of poetry in song and the magic of guitars (all kinds) as a teen in the ’60s and has followed folk\, rock and jazz for inspiration–which explains his versatility in several styles. \nEqually at home in be-bop\, art-song\, or folk\, Lisa Markley\, https://lisamarkley.com/ is a multi-instrumentalist\, (guitar\, banjo\, ukulele\, piano\, trombone\, and voice)\, who cannot be boxed in by labels or genres\, but instead follows the song to where it wants to go. \nIf Harry Chapin and Joni Mitchell had a musical love child it could easily be Stuart Kabak\, a multi award winning songwriter who likes to tell stories in his songs like Harry\, wrapped in open tunings Joini would most definitely use. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Stuart+Kabak \nThis will simply be an outstanding musical evening. On this night we will announce the winners of the 2025 Songwriting Contest\, $1000 First Prize\, $500 Runner-Up\, and some Honorable Mentions. Special thanks to this year’s judges: Mike Borok\, Sharon Klein\, and Neil Okeson. We’ll also announce the winner of the 4th Annual Music Teacher Appreciation Award\, a $1000 grant.\nWe start promptly at 7:30\, but recommend you arrive closer to 6:30 for a seat with table. Noble Coffee will serve a light dinner menu plus a great selection of desserts\, coffees & teas. This is a free event. We accept tax-deductible donations to “pay it forward” to the next generation of musicians. See them at https://musicforhumanity.org. If you are financially stressed please join us for free and let the music work its magic… it will. \nThis is a “listening room” series. If you enjoy listening to outstanding music in a small intimate room (40-60 people) you’ll love this event.\nIf you can’t make it please subscribe to our YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@musicforhumanity-1. We’ll post the videos the following week.
