9th Annual Bill Perry Day

Once a year on the last Sunday of July we honor the legacy of Bill Perry who was born in the Village of Chester NY and died on July 17, 2007 in Sugar Loaf, in the Town of Chester NY. The event this year is on Sunday July 31st. Raindate Sunday August 7th. 



This is the 9th annual Bill Perry Day. It starts at 11;30AM and continues until 6:00PM. Bring a blanket, some chairs, a cooler and enjoy an afternoon of great music. Performers will include some of the best blues musicians in the Mid-Hudson. This is a family oriented, free live musical event open to the entire community. 


 At about 2PM we will present the 2016 Music for Humanity Scholarships, one in honor of Bill Perry.


 


 



Please join us and some of the best blues musicians as we honor Bill Perry, one of the greatest blues guitarists ever, who died before his time.

Featuring the Nova Quartet, participants in Juilliard's Honors Chamber Music program. Works to be performed are solo string pieces by Bach, Brahms’ C minor String Quartet, and Mendelssohn’s String Octet The concert will take place at Grace Church in Manhattan at 3PM on February 6th, 2016. 100% of profits go to Music for Humanity scholarships to support passionate and dedicated young musicians.

7th Annual Concert Fund Raiser

This is our 7th annual fund raiser concert and we're honored to have singer/songwriter Buddy Mondlock, join us for a house concert in LaGrange, NY 12603 


Buddy has had his songs recorded by Garth Brooks, Joan Baez, Guy Clark, David Wilcox, Janis Ian, Edwin McCain, Peter, Paul and Mary and a host of other artists. Nanci Griffith fans will recognize Mondlock's "Comin' Down In the Rain" from her Grammy award winning collection, "Other Voices, Other Rooms.” He’s also made his own recordings including a collaboration with Art Garfunkel and Maia Sharp called “Everything Waits To Be Noticed” on EMI/Manhattan Records. The three wrote songs together and then recorded them as a trio before touring the US and Europe in 2003. And his latest solo release, “The Memory Wall”, has been very well received. It reached number 3 on the Folk DJ Charts and has been nominated for an Independent Music Award.

They have performed to acclaim on the stages of Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and other leading concert halls and stages worldwide.

Sun Young Chang, soprano, received her Master and Professional Studies Diploma from the Mannes College of Music, has performed numerously at Carnegie Hall and is a Teaching Artist for the Metropolitan Opera Guild


Steven Herring, baritone, graduate of the Julliard School and the Duke Ellington School of the Arts


Matt Ward, percussionist, holds a BM degree from the Manhattan School of Music, a MM and DMA degree from SUNY Stony Brook and is on the faculty at Queens College and The Aaron Copland School of Music


Hamilton Berry, cellist, a native of Nashville with a Masters in Music from Julliard, Hamilton is a distinguished alumni of the Carnegie Hall, Julliard, Weill Music Institute Academy.

Performers include Barry Adelman, Lords of the Parish, Dan Brother and John Bendy, Bill Perry's Lovesick Homeboys, John Reddan and more. This is a family oriented, free live musical event open to the entire community. 


 At 5:10 we will present Four Music for Humanity Scholarships, one in honor of Bill Perry.


The award recipients are:


Maxfied Panish (from East Hampton NY, graduating East Hampton High School & attending Manhattan School of Music 


Phakamani Pega (from South Africa & attending Berkee School of Music)


Tyler Odell (from Pine Bush NY & attending SUNY Fredonia School of Music) 


The Music for Humanity Bill Perry Scholarship goes to Lauren Lazzari (from New Hampton NY, graduating Minisink High School and attending Westminster Choir College at Rider University)


$8500 in music scholarships will be awarded.
