Announcing the Music for Humanity Scholarships for 2012
Music For Humanity, posted 07/05/12 15:39:29   » Scholarship Announcement for 2012

We had an outstanding slate of candidates applying for a Music for Humanity scholarship this year. In the past, as a fledgling organization, we were almost begging for applications to give away scholarships, but this year we received 10 applications and had to make some difficult decisions.

One applicant applied for a specific project, but right now we only fund scholarships to an accredited college or university in the United States. Another outstanding applicant is a graduate student and we felt it was more important to help the undergraduates who are just starting their college education. The committee also weighed both the talent and financial need of each applicant.  With that said, The Scholarship Committee and the Board of Music for Humanity have approved awarding the following scholarships for 2012:

Maxfield Panish (from East Hampton NY, graduating East Hampton High School & attending Manhattan School of Music) - $2500

Phakamani Pega - (from South Africa & attending Berklee School of Music) - $2500

Tyler Odell - (from Pine Bush NY & attending SUNY Fredonia School of Music) - $2500

The Music for Humanity Bill Perry Scholarship goes to
Lauren Lazzari (from New Hampton NY, graduating Minisink High School & attending Westminster Choir College at Rider University) - $1000

The official awards ceremony with be held in Sugar Loaf NY at "Bill Perry Day" on Sunday July 29th. This is a free afternoon of music, including some members of the Bill Perry Band, from Noon to 6PM to celebrate the life of Bill Perry. The awards ceremony will be held at 5:10PM.
Find out more about Bill Perry here: and here:

Keep sharing the music - If the spirit moves you please make a tax-deductible donation to Music for Humanity here: or send it to us at PO Box 359, Chester NY 10918.

Thanks for your generosity,
Barry Adelman

There will also be a brief ceremony at Crossroads Music (Amagansett, NY) at Noon on Saturday August 11th to present the award to Maxfield Panish.

Masters of the Guitar Fundraiser - October 15, 2011

A week has passed already since our Annual Fundraiser on October 15th. I wanted to thank everyone who attended in body & spirit. Special thanks to our "Masters"; just two very humble, but very talented guitarists:

John Sheehan: and

Charles Mokotoff:

John gave me permission to share "Public Domain" off his Instrumental Solo Guitar CD. If you'd like a copy of it please email me:

You can also listen to Charles on his website.

Photos of the evening are here:

Thanks to everyone who helped to make the evening possible: Jim Elwell, Steve Terwilliger, Robert Clinton, Wayne Decker, Robin Rabii, Linda Borghi, Howard Garrett and the Village of Montgomery.

We raised over $2000 after expenses to help spread a little more music throughout the world. If the spirit moves you please make an online tax-deductible contribution here:

If you're on Facebook please "Like" Music for Humanity here: and share the links with your friends.
